Our Story

Where Soul Meets the Land

Rooted in heritage. Guided by the plants. Made with intention.

SOLAH Botanicals is botanical wellness born from our love of the natural world, our family's heritage, and the teachings passed down through generations. We took for granted to have “healing remedies” in our family for generations until an elder gifted us with Devils Club and told us “make something with this and share your teachings to help others”. Thats how we started.

SOLAH Botanicals is, in many ways, an act of reclamation. It is our way of honouring the matriarchs who came before us — the women who carried our heritage, knowledge, and traditions through generations, even when they had to hide parts of who they were.

As an Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) family connected to the White Earth Nation (Crane Clan) and descendants of the Red River Métis, our journey back to our heritage has not always been easy. We have faced adversity from those who have questioned our identity based on skin colour, lack of a status card or not carrying scrip in our purse to coffee date, but we remain proud of who we are and where we come from but most importantly, we know who we are.

We believe that the wounds of the past can cause people to lose connection with themselves, their culture, and others. But we also believe that healing begins with remembering, reconnecting, and having the courage to honour the truth of our own stories. Every family's journey of reconnection is deeply personal, and no one else can dictate how another person or family honours, explores, or finds their way back to their heritage. If you are on this journey please reach out as we are here to support.

Through SOLAH Botanicals, we honour the women who came before us, the many medicine people in our lineage, and the knowledge that endured even when so much was left unspoken. We are finding our way back, learning with humility, and carrying forward what remains with love, respect, and intention.

We will not hide who we are — anymore.

Sharing Good Medicine

For us, good medicine means more than the plants themselves. It is the intention behind what we create, the care we put into our work, the teachings we honour, and the way we choose to share that care with others.

SOLAH Botanicals was born from a desire to carry these values forward. Sharing good medicine is our way of honouring what endured through generations while creating something meaningful for the generations to come. It is about approaching the plants with respect, creating with good heart and intention, and offering products that invite others to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and find moments of care in their daily lives.

We recognize that we are still learning and that reconnecting with our heritage is an ongoing journey. We move forward with humility, gratitude, and a commitment to honouring the knowledge shared with us.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been hearing how our products have become part of other people's lives. Knowing that something we have created with care has brought comfort, become part of someone's routine, or helped them find their own moments of wellness is deeply gratifying to us.

These plants have been part of our family's story for generations, and seeing others develop their own appreciation for botanical care brings that story full circle. It reminds us why we began this journey: to honour what was passed down to us, to continue learning, and to share the care and connection that plants have brought into our own lives.

For us, this is what Sharing Good Medicine means — carrying forward what has helped sustain our family, creating with intention, and sharing that care with others.

We are proud of our heritage. We honour the women who came before us. We will not hide who we are anymore.
